Replacing the Sydney 500 which was held at Sydney Olympic Park for the past 9 years, Newcastle is going to come alive with this great new event to the region.
Already being described as “the Monaco of the southern hemisphere” and compared to the classic Formula One circuit through the streets of Monte Carlo. The Newcastle 500 a new Signature event coming the area with the opportunity to showcase the whole Hunter region.
The Circuit
The 2.6-kilometre circuit has been revealed. Taking in a portion of the Newcastle CBD and local highlights such as Nobby’s Beach, Fort Scratchley, and the Harbour Foreshore.
How do I get to Newcastle?
Located 2 hours North of Sydney along the Eastern Coastline of Australia Newcastle is NSW second largest city. No matter where in the world you are travelling from Newcastle is so easy to access.
Driving – If you are driving to the Supercars Newcastle as accessible from the M1 motorway. A daily bus service is also available from Central Train Station Sydney to Port Stephens Via Newcastle
Flying – For those travelling Interstate Newcastle Airport offers regular flights from Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane
Train Direct train links available to Hamilton Train station in Newcastle with regular train services up and down the East Coast
Where is Port Stephens to Newcastle?
A short 45 minute scenic drive North of Newcastle. Port Stephens offers the best location to relax away from the action. When heading into Newcastle for the events it is suggested to drive to Stockton to park your car. This is a 30 minute drive. You can then catch the ferry across to Honeysuckle. This is the main section of the Newcastle 500 course.
