STEM:DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES -TURNING A NEW PAGE

The Federal Government has initiated an increased focus on (STEM) and on innovation in Australian schools. This is in response to the need for a higher level of literacy around computer programming.

In NSW The new Science and Technology syllabus has been developed using the established NSW Education Standards Authority syllabus development process. This includes a new emphasis and mandatory implementation of Digital Technologies, teaching and learning.

With the pending mandatory implementation the new Science & Technologies ( incorporating Digital Technologies outcomes)  in 2019, many schools are now asking the questions

  • Where can I find out more about Digital Technologies in the classroom?
  • How does STEM Design Teaching and Learning support the implementation of the new Science and Technology syllabus?
  • How is the inclusion of Digital Technologies linked to and included in this new syllabus and across the NSW Curriculum?

Our series of workshops not only highlight the roles Digital Technologies Teaching & Learning play in STEM Design Thinking but also, how STEM Design Thinking can enhance learning across the curriculum.

During our courses & workshops focused on Digital Technologies participants will-

  • Investigate ways to teach Digital Technologies in NSW classrooms using the NSW curriculum;
  • Investigate the K-6 Science and Technology Curriculum and 7-8 Tech Mandatory in the light of the expectations of 21st Century Pedagogies;
  • Gain a deeper understanding of subject outcomes and how these can be effectively and efficiently delivered and assessed in authentic and doable ways.
