Whats on in Winter

Port Stephens is known as the blue water paradise and popular with beach goers in summer. It’s also the go to destination in winter to see humpback whales and enjoy the great outdoors.

  1.  Port Stephens is all about nature, so bring a jacket, scarf, beanie and some comfortable shoes and get out and about!
  2. We have some of the best land-based whale watching spots on the east coast.
  3. If you want to get up close to the humpback whales join a whale watching cruise
  4. A walk to the top of Tomaree Headland is a must
  5. There are plenty of great fishing spots including beach, rock, estuary and offshore fishing.
  6. You can tee off at our many golf courses
  7. Bring your bike or hire one and enjoy a scenic ride along the beautiful bay.
  8. Exploring the Stockton Sand Dunes, the largest moving sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. Go for a sand boarding adventure down the massive dunes or a quad biking tour along the 32km stretch of sand.
  9. Snow time in the gardens at Hunter Valley Gardens is only an hour away.
  10. Camel rides along Birubi Beach are a relaxing experience and photo opportunity.
